Collection: prelude

rock music by Lost Malaise

Having found my way back to ‘classical’ music, I wanted to create an instrumental rock I had not heard before.

Whereas the Allmans developed compositions for the stage, mine are not designed to stretch out, nor do they flex complexity as a virtue. They are not backing tracks awaiting a vocalist. They are moods from the ground up. Nothing is sacred or settled, and the bass takes the lead. There is nothing mechanical, no drum machine, no metronome; it is vivid, passionate expressionism.

Pure music has a conversant quality for any rational animal.

Spring is a fury, and wakes the next morning revived for mischief. Summer spans leafy pastorals and molten beaches, and gas-guzzling highways and byways in between. Autumn’s jazzy depression drowns itself in a blustery lake. A Winter’s march across the cold forest floor finds shelter by the warmth of a minstrel’s dance, before heading back out.

This is giving and taking, exploring all the contradictions. I must scratch.
