The Fifth Folio adds three new plays to the Fourth:

King Edward III
The Two Noble Kinsmen
Don Quixote en Sierra Morena

The latter is based on possible fragments of the long-lost play Cardenio, preserved by way of Lewis Theobald’s Double Falshood, together with the original Cervantes and other source material. Merging the two required resplicing the narrative, and some lines had to be lost (again).

We took the opportunity to edit these plays in a presumed chronological order from 1590 to 1614. We therefore begin with King Henry VI Part 2, known in its day as

The first part of the Contention betwixt the two famous Houses of Yorke and Lancaster, with the death of the Good Duke Humphrey: and the banishment and death of the Duke of Suffolke, and the Tragicall end of the proud Cardinall of Winchester, with the notable Rebellion of Jack Cade: And the Duke of Yorke’s first claime unto the Crowne.
